The Once and Future King by T.H. White.
My favorite book is The Once and Future King by T.H. White. It was a book that I
read while in high school in a Great Books advanced reading class. It is
set in mideival times and is a version of the sword in the stone, with King Arthur,
Sir Lancelot and Lady Guinevere, and the brilliant (but bumblingly entertaining) magician,
Merlin. It is a very well written and exciting book. In some places it made me
sad enough to cry, while at other times I smiled big enough to laugh out loud! Ever
since I read this book, I have been fascinated with stories of King Arthur, his
legendary sword called Excaliber, and his ever-faithful Knights of the Round Table.
As a result, my favorite character in literature continues to be Merlin.
